Hangzhou
Hello from Hangzhou! After approximately 35 hours of travel, we are here in Hangzhou, a city of roughly 6 million people sprawled out very much like a Phoenix or Houston. The city is a popular destination for resident tourists, but, at this time, not much visited by foreigners. After arriving at the hotel around 1:00 AM last night we were up early in order to attend our first visit to Zhejiang University, where we received a guest lecture from a prominent business school professor. Afterwards, we had lunch at the school cafeteria, which can seat 20,000 students, quite possibly the largest university dining hall in the world!
Finally, we were off to visit Wahaha Beverage company, China's largest beverage company. We spoke with a few representatives and took a short tour of one of the bottling plants. We each received free samples at the end.
Tomorrow is a sight-seeing tour of the city before we head to Shanghai! More to come soon...
