Final posting from Shanghai

On Tuesday, we visited CIEE, one of our overseas study partners in Shanghai. They were incredibly nice and gave us a campus tour. During the tour, in what might be one of the most exciting visits of the week, we were able to visit two local family apartments who typically host American students who study abroad. The host families cooked up some delicious dumplings, and showed us around their places. It was great to see a local residence from the area!

We finished the CIEE visit with a nice lunch with all of the CIEE staff as well as three Kelley students who are currently spending the semester in Shanghai! It was great to get their perspective on the time they've spent abroad so far!

Currently, we are finishing packing and last-minute shopping, before one final dinner out and then an early wake-up tomorrow to head to the airport. This has been, without a doubt, one of the most exciting trips that all us of have ever taken. Everyone bonded so quickly, and we've enjoyed getting to know each and every person on this trip. Every student had something unique to offer, and as a whole, it has made for one exciting time! There were new friendship's made, and great stories to tell. We are all sad to leave, but ready to get back to Bloomington.

There's something special about going abroad- seeing the world from a different perspective. The students have learned much about themselves, especially how much they can do when left with no other choice! Some of their most creative moments were for things as simple as trying to communicate directions to a taxi driver. We are all better off from having had this immersion experience.

This will be the final post until our return to Bloomington, upon which I will post final pictures and several videos that I was unable to post while abroad.

Thanks for following our trip- see everyone soon!
